Hello Mr Smith? Mr Charles Smith.
Good, how are you? (Pause) Mr Smith this Lisa from ABC Building Co. We're going to do some renovations at the Joneses, next door to you.
Did you get our letter the other day?
(Wait for answer, and regardless of "yes" or "no") We were just letting you know that we were starting work at the Joneses soon and we wanted to apologise for any inconvenience our tradespeople or equipment might cause. (Pause, acknowledge comment if any)
Mr Smith because we'll be working at the Joneses, we wondered whether there was any work you might be thinking about having done. (Pause, respond appropriately).
We find that because we are working nearby we can often schedule work conveniently both for you and us.
And because it means savings in set up and travelling time we can pass the savings, often huge savings. onto you. Its nice to save money on this sort of work isn't it?
(Wait for agreement)
Are there any carpentry, plumbing, painting electrical or landscaping jobs you're been thinking about having done that we could look at for you.
(If "no" say) I can understand that. Off the top of your head its hard to think of anything. But we often find that people need new power plugs, some cupboards installed, some dripping taps fixed or a coat of paint on a room isn't that true?
(If "yes", see below para)
So, why don't I get our site foreman, Bill Bloggs to call when he's next at the Joneses tying things up. That will be early Tuesday evening about 6, is that okay?
If they ask "how much" - well of course until Bill has had a look at what needs doing its impossible to say. But I can say your investment should be substantially less than usual because of the savings we're making by doing your project when we're working so close.
If they ask "who is your firm" - We're ABC Building Co. and the Joneses heard about us by word of mouth from friends. And that's how we've generated most of our business over our 15 year history. Its nice to be referred by satisfied customers, isn't it?
Good, thank you Mr Smith. You can expect to see Bill Bloggs about 6pm on Tuesday night.
Thank you.
