Letter of the Month

Good morning!

What does a carpenter do when he is at a loose end?

Let me explain! I am normally busy working on building sites but my wife is expecting her third child and I want to be with her during the last weeks of her pregnancy… just in case the baby arrives early.

That means I am taking all of October off but, until the baby arrives, I will be sitting twiddling my thumbs (unless the baby arrives early of course) and frankly, unless I have something to do, I will go stark staring mad. My wife knows that too and it’s why she’s encouraging me to write this letter.

And that’s when I thought of a way to keep me occupied and maybe make you and a few other people happy.

I am available to do small carpentry jobs, the little ones that you want doing but can’t get a tradesman to do, and that you would love to have done before Christmas.

That means if you’ve wanted to have some carpentry work done around your home… for example a couple of floorboards replaced or perhaps those cupboard doors fixed, then I can give do it during October. That way you’ll have your home back to its best for Christmas and the summer season.

And because I want to cele brate the imminent arrival of our new baby I’m going to give you a present. You’ll find that the investment to have any carpentry done will be very, very reasonable.

To avail yourself of this opportunity please ring my wife Susan and give her the details and I’ll get back to you with a firm date as to when I will do the job.

I look forward to doing some sawing and hammering for you soon.

Yours sincerely

Doug Jones
MASTER CARPENTER

P. S. If, by the way, the baby arrives on the day I am due to be at your place I will probably be otherwise occupied and may need to reschedule. I am sure that you will forgive me!
