Hello, my name is Dr David Moffet and I commenced practise in Parramatta as a very young dentist 18 years ago. In fact I’ve lived and worked in the area nearly all my life.

Now I know that there are lots of other dentists advertising to get you to use them but people have told me that what they say doesn’t make it any easier to choose the right dentist.

So, to help you decide, what I’ve tried to do here is put myself in your shoes and give you simple, uncomplicated and honest answers to the questions I am most often asked.

I’m in pain. Can you see me right away?

Almost certainly, yes because I know how teeth can hurt and so, if you need immediate attention, I’ll move heaven and earth to see you today during office hours and stop the pain for you! Following that, we’ll organise a time to do a thorough check-up of your teeth and gums and take any x-rays necessary. Once that is done I’ll be able to tell you the full story about your teeth, give you crystal clear recommendations and an exact costing for any treatment you need.

How do you decide what treatment is right for me?

That’s a very easy question for me to answer. You see the treatment I recommend for you will be the same as I would use for my family or myself … if I wouldn’t do it for my wife or kids or have it done to me there’s no way I’d recommend it for you... absolutely no way. Put simply that means I never recommend patch ups or short-term solutions.

Is your treatment pain free?

I go to extraordinary lengths to make what I do is as pain free as possible. I’d be lying if said that you’ll never ever feel anything but, with the amazing state-of-the-art equipment I use, you’ll be amazed at how little discomfort you experience.

Are you up to date with the latest?

Dentistry is one of those professions where things change almost overnight and ever since I qualified as a dentist I “go back to school” several times every year to ensure that I am up to date with the latest techniques and technology. A few years ago the approach used to be “drill and fill” or, if that didn’t work, pull the tooth out but now there are other ways of solving problems that are better than drilling and filling or pulling. That means that I almost never have to take a tooth out.

Do you have that computer that fixes broken teeth?

If you mean the Cerec ® machine then yes I do. This state of the art machine makes strong porcelain fillings on the spot without the need for rubber impressions.

Do you do amalgam (mercury) fillings?

I haven’t used amalgam for a long time. Based on my readings I would never use amalgam for my wife or children. So, if I wouldn’t use amalgam for their fillings, how could I in good conscience use it for any one else?

Do you do teeth whitening?

Of course and what’s more I have a number of options from which you can choose so that you get the one that works best for you and fits within your budget. I have ZOOM! (as seen on “Extreme Makeover”). In fact mine was the first dental practice in Parramatta to have “Zoom!” and the improved whiteness it gives your teeth is amazing!

And what about cosmetic work?

“Cosmetic dentistry” is something that many competent dentists who have kept up to date can do, so whether its shaping up just one tooth or working to improve your smile I can produce exactly the results you want.

Can I pay by credit card?

Of course, and you can even pay by instalments too if you require major dental work. Naturally, some conditions apply.

Is there anything else I should know?

Well, you’ll find it’s the little things we do that make a difference like letting you relax with really great coffee in our client lounge, having appointment times that suit your busy lifestyle and always seeing you on time…not making you waste your precious time like many professionals do.

Where are you situated?

We are in heart of the Parramatta C.B.D. on the third floor (yes, we have a lift!) of the Parramatta Specialist Medical Building located on the western side of Marsden Street, which runs parallel to Church Street. Look for the Marsden Eye Specialists on the Ground Floor of the building. There is plenty of convenient parking nearby and we will give you details when you make your appointment.
