5 words guaranteed to make any workshop more money!
The other day I was flipping through the pages of a copy of a recent Royalauto magazine and an article hit me right between the eyes.
Now let me explain.
First of all, you have to understand that Joe Public believes just about anything that’s published in Royalauto (or any other motoring association magazine, for that matter). It is seen as a reliable, reputable and authoritative source of information. A magazine that you can trust and, when it comes to cars, a magazine you can virtually stake your life on (and do)!
As a result anytime you say something like “The RACV reckons that…” you’ve got immediate credibility in the eyes of most members of the motoring public. But just think how you could use words like that to sell almost anything… providing that the RACV had said something about it.
Okay, what does it do for business? Well, because whatever the RACV says is such a huge credibility builder, it takes the selling out of making a sale.
That’s why the article I’m talking about hit me fair and square right between the eyes. The RACV were saying something that makes it incredibly easy for any workshop to make lots more low cost, high profit sales. That’s money for old rope sales. Heaps more money, bigger profits, retire earlier stuff!
Here was this beautiful little article that thousands of people had read and thousands more will believe implicitly if told about it!
And guess what?
Not one single, solitary workshop I know is using it. Not one workshop has cut that article out, laminated it, handed it to every customer and said, “Here, read this” and started counting the extra money. (And no, those aren’t the words either—there are only 3 of ‘em anyway.)
It sure as heck beats me. Maybe is just too easy to make money these days. Maybe there’s less competition or something. Maybe most guys are already making money faster than their missus can spend it (or vice versa).
Or maybe guys are so busy trying to make a quid that they don’t have time to read Royalauto and find the treasure buried in its pages.
