Be Different: What to send at Christmas.People tend to get a lot of cards at Christmas. They’re not likely to remember yours for more than five seconds after opening it — unless you make yours stand out from the crowd. Here are a few tips: Read more... A Great TV CommercialOkay this one isn’t to sell beer like the others I’ve sent you. I suspect it sells mobile phones or their great plans. It certainly gets attention but I wonder how many sales it produced. Remember the aim of any advertising is just that… to create sales. See it here. Cards to Build RelationshipsSometime ago I discovered a supplier of “message cards” that I could use in all sorts of different situations because, whilst they had a message on the outside, they were blank on the inside which meant I could personalise them with a brief note. As you’ll see when you visit the website there’s a range of front page messages from a mere “Thank you” through “You can always reach me” to “Congratulations” and “Thank you for the lead.” On the inside you can print (for volume) or handwrite (for personalisation) an appropriate message to thank them for a lead, a referral or a great effort, let them know your mobile number or e-mail address, congratulate them on sales success, their wedding or an achievement and so on. They’ve got hundreds of uses and if you’re not already using these as part of your relationship building strategy then investing in these will get you going. The Simplest Sales Secret – EnthusiasmNine tenths of success in business is enthusiasm. When you are excited about your product, your services or your business, you kindle interest in others. If you don’t feel that excitement, find a reason to get enthusiastic. Become the customer. What benefits of this product or service would make you excited and keen to buy? Start talking about these benefits with as much enthusiasm as if you were finding the perfect solution to your problems. Stress benefits. Stress the feelings of relief at finding the perfect solution. Stress feelings of pride of ownership. Really feel that pleasure about something that performs beautifully. Tell them how good your company is and what a great person the boss is! Get excited about where you work and what you do! Your enthusiasm will sell your product and your company. How to Generate Endless ReferralsA mate of mine from the USA, Bob Burg, has written just about the best book I’ve ever read on the subject of getting referrals. (Remember somewhere between 80 and 92 percent of your new business should come from referrals.) He’s been explaining to listeners to my audio program how generate endless referrals easily, simply and without being pushy and the way he explains it makes it dead easy. If getting referrals is important to you then you must invest in his book “How to Generate Endless Referrals” which he has just been totally revised and republished. The best place to buy the book is at Amazon. By the way, when you’ve bought the book e-mail Bob and let him know so he can send you a heap of thank you goodies. Starting a Brewery in CyberspaceA very successful entrepreneur, Liam Mulhall, has built a virtual (and now real life) brewing business by harnessing the power of word of mouth in cyberspace. Starting with a handful of contacts he’s built his e-mail database up to 40 thousand or so raving fans and customers. You can find out all about it and what has contributed to the success of his company just by going to www.blowfly.com.au. While you are there you can subscribe to his newsletter and purchase some of his beer… even have your photo (or somebody else’s) printed on the label. Turning Your Words into ResultsMy technology whiz, Terry Brock from Florida, who keeps American businesses up to speed on how to harness cyberspace and get it making money recently talked to my Business Marketing listeners about how to get their message out using the latest tools. Winston is a Pig Again!About this time last year Winston ventured out on the Great Victorian Bike Ride and had to decide whether he’d be a chook or a pig (if you want to know why he’s a pig look here) Well, he’s at it again, this time starting at the town of Swan Hill and heading along the Murray River then across the hill country to Melbourne. See where Winno is going here.
