Go Ahead, Annoy Someone Today! Now I don’t mean that you should be a disagreeable pain in the butt and
immediately make yourself unpopular with your friends and colleagues. What I
do mean, however, is that if you are satisfied with the status quo in all
aspects of your life then you are probably not moving forward. Just
occasionally you need to challenge existing thinking, methods or results to
see if they can be bettered. Let me give you an example. When I used to work for a boss as Marketing Director of a large company and had put a new advertising campaign together for approval by my Managing Director I would junk the whole campaign if the MD liked it at first sight. Why? Well, if they were comfortable with it and it didn’t disturb or upset
them, then I knew we were just doing a variation of what we’d always done. I
wanted my MD to shriek, “No way, you can’t run that campaign, I absolutely
hate it!” Then, to win them over, I had to assemble my arsenal of research,
facts and figures to demonstrate that this campaign would break through the
clutter and get the attention of our target market. As I took them through
the “reasons why” I would see their attitude changing and almost invariably
get the approval to go ahead. But, by golly, that process really annoyed
them! Who are you going to annoy today by challenging the belief that “we’ve
always done it that way” or “that’s the only way”? Ever Really Read
Green Eggs’n Ham? You’ll probably recall this great Dr Seuss book from your childhood
and there are a couple of lessons in it for everyone. Firstly, Sam I Am asks
for the order 16 times. That’s right, 16 times he tries to persuade The Cat
In The Hat to try green eggs and ham. And guess what? On the 16th
attempt The Cat responds with “Sam! I like green eggs and ham!” Seeing that most sales people give up on the first or second attempt
and that, on average, sales are made on the fifth attempt doesn’t this make
you give serious thought to how persistent you are in your selling efforts?
How many attempts do you make to get the sale? Secondly, a publisher bet Dr Seuss that he couldn’t write a book
using 50 different words. The publisher lost--- Dr Seuss used only 47
different words in this 777-word story. Simple is beautiful. What’s A Groodle?
Another Great Book In The
Series. You’ve probably heard me say that the book “Words That Sell” is
a book you shouldn’t be without. There’s a new one in the series called “Phrases That Sell”
and, if you don’t have it, I would recommend you get yourself a copy. Ever
Wonder Who Gets The Most Headaches?
You probably haven’t, but the manufacturers of Excedrin have done some
research on which jobs give people the most headaches. Guess what? Accountants
head the list then come bus and truck drivers, librarians, nurses, waiters
and homemakers. Now that may be interesting but how could you use this
information? Well, maybe you could begin a letter with “You may not have as many
headaches as accountants, but here’s instant relief for one of your biggest
headaches!” or “Guess who has the most headaches?” A Special Easter Offer… A

Is Your Glass Half Full Or Half Empty? In the March edition of my Business Marketing program I interviewed Dean
who has always looked at the positive side of life and expected good things
to happen rather than bad. And that’s what has happened… on 13 occasions he
has found wallets and restored them to their rightful owners and twice he has
had a $20 note blown onto his windscreen! So it was inevitable that he’d win
lotto… $2.3 million recently. He’s always expected good luck and it works…
even when he takes people fishing… his great love.
Do you expect in life that the good things will happen to you because,
remember, you inevitably get what you expect! To change
the results you are getting for the better click here. Looking

I’ve ever seen in Masterton, NZ and regularly mails her 4,000 strong database

there. Death By PowerPoint! In the February edition of my Business
Marketing audio magazine I reported on the
results of a survey by a fellow named Dave Paradi on what people hate about
PowerPoint. The top 3 of them are: 1.

The text is so small I couldn't read
it 3.

the love of your life with a trip to the Ruth
Pretty cooking school. She’s New

recognition for the sensational catering functions and food she conjures up.
All of the world premieres of The Lord of The Rings movie trilogy had her

you will need to get on the waiting list. |
