My great English friend and negotiation expert, Derek Arden, offered these observations in a recent newsletter after he spent a few days in Australia with his mentor and friend, John Farrell, for his 100th birthday. John said, that in his 100 years of experience, they had served him well. I’ve added number four to the original three…

1 – If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

2 – There is no such thing as a free lunch.

3 – Play your cards close to your chest when negotiating.

4 – When a person with money meets a person with experience, the person with the experience ends up with the money and the person with the money ends up with the experience!

Great rules to remember!
