There comes a time in your business life when you either outgrow some clients or you just can’t stand the thought of dealing with them anymore and you want to say “goodbye”!

I know that many people have wrestled with how to do this and on occasions I’ve had to help them by creating a good old snail mail letter to assist in the process.

The process is simple. First, find (or manufacture) a good reason for the parting, then secondly, say farewell nicely (almost with tears dripping from your pen!;) thirdly, particularly if the client annoys you, suggest they find one of your competitors to deal with (give the competitor’s name if you really want them to suffer).

Here’s such a letter I wrote some time ago. You can adapt and amend it to suit almost any circumstance.

Goodbye Client letter
