How good is this?
Yeah, yeah I know that you will all know what couriers do and how well they do it but I just have to comment on the great job Star Express did yesterday. I bought an amazing piece of hardware from …

Another Commercial
Another Commercial: Every edition of this e-zine I include a television or cyberspace commercial that’s caught my eye. Here’s one that I’m sure you’ll probably almost wet yourself upon viewing. It probably cost a heap of money to make and, as usual, my question is “Did it sell more of the product?” I wonder. What do you think?

Prospects
Most businesses need to understand the most important rule of business… be a better marketer of what you do than doer of what you do. That means every business needs an endless supply of new prospects coming through the door every day and yet, because most people believe they are poor marketers, they haven’t spent any time getting really working out how to get this to happen.

Acknowledgement is nice!
A friend of mine used to live in Sydney and regularly trek out to Herbie’s Spices at Rozelle. She’s now moved to Melbourne and had to order at the website so she included an explanation as to why she hadn’t ordered in person.

The power of the “new” media
Through a powerful and graphic video on Youtube Greenpeace has managed to get the multinational Nestle company to stop using palm oil in Kit Kat bars because it is denuding the habitat of the orangutan. The lesson is quite plain… the powerful new ways each of us has to promote our causes… whether they be business or social… are potent additions to our armoury of message communication.

The U3-X Personal Mobility Prototype
I dunno whether this is genuine or not (but it seems to be judging from web comments about its demonstration in NY) but if it is its fantastic. Great for people with disabilities of just people who would prefer simpler mechanical transport…

Another Commercial
This incredible video clip, ostensibly produced for Evian mineral water, suggests that you to can train babies to roller skate. Now I know that what’s shown isn’t feasible but it still leaves the question. “How do they do that?”…

Not a chick flick
Last Saturday I was dragged, semi kicking and screaming, to the movies to see the movie for which Sandra Bullock won her Academy Award… “The Blind Side”. I’d heard that it was a “chick flick” so I wanted outta there.

Conversion!
Having an endless supply of prospects walking through your business door is fantastic but, if they come through the door (or go to the web site or phone you) and don’t buy anything, all you have done is provide them with the information to go and buy elsewhere.

Write to be understood
Mary Morel who is an ace at helping people write board papers, business writing training and grammar produces a couple of lovely newsletters that I love reading. Recently she told us about the US Plain Language Act requiring federal agencies to use plain language for documents, such as tax returns and forms. You can read more at www.plainlanguage.gov/news/index.cfm?topic=ysnUSG but I loved the Medicare Fraud Letter example I found at that web site.
The Medicare Beneficiary Services receives a lot of Medicare fraud correspondence every year. To reach their customers more effectively, they took an already short letter and made it even shorter and to the point.
